As a 27-year career high school teacher, public education is far too important to me to do poorly. JISD has so many fantastic things going on that it’s too important to let any issues “slide”. We can be the BEST ISD in the state! In order to do this, ALL current teachers, ALL students, and ALL parents need to feel supported and valued. Our community must feel like the ISD is completely transparent.

Working for the BEST supportive and safe school environment for ALL:

Each student, teacher, and community member deserves to feel safe and valued in our schools. As a school board member, I will work to create the best school experience for students and teachers. I will help to unite the community for a culture of educational excellence. School safety is paramount in the educational culture. I will work to support each student and each teacher as everyone deserves to feel safe at school. All parents and community concerns will be heard and addressed.

Supporting teachers:

As a teacher, I empathize and understand teachers are the backbone of the educational system. They MUST be supported and empowered to do their jobs effectively. I will work to reduce unnecessary paperwork, documentation, and data collection, and I will help provide teachers with the resources they need to help their students succeed.

Promoting local control:

I believe community schools are best when local control is maximized. In today’s society, all government agencies are in OVER-REACH MODE. As a school board member, I will discern where to surrender to the advice and recommendations of outside agencies versus respecting local representation as designed by the Constitution.

Ensuring transparency and accountability:

The school board is responsible for making decisions that impact students, teachers, and the community. I believe in transparency and accountability and will work to ensure that the board operates in an open and honest manner.

Prioritizing student achievement:

At the end of the day, our goal is to help EVERY student reach their full potential. As a school board member, I will prioritize student achievement and work to provide the resources and support necessary to help every student succeed.

Championing parental involvement:

Parents play a crucial role in their child's education, and their input is valuable in shaping school policy. I will work to create opportunities for parents to get involved and ensure that their concerns are heard and addressed. ALL parents should feel valued, heard, and welcome to be involved at their child’s campus

Advocating for fiscally responsible policies:

Our schools need to be well-funded, but we also need to ensure that taxpayer dollars are spent wisely. I will work to promote fiscally responsible policies and ensure that resources are used in a way that benefits students and the community.

By working together, we can create a school system that provides a high-quality education for all students, supports our teachers, and promotes a strong sense of community involvement and accountability. As a JISD School Board Candidate, I am committed to making this vision a reality.
